Congratulations to all 277 Canadian Olympians who participated in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
It takes dedication and hard work to become part of the team. In order to excel, you must set your goals, prescribe a plan, and follow it every day.
Canada was well-represented by its athletic competitors who equalled the number of medals won at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
Best of luck to all those who will establish their goals, and strive to become part of the team who will compete in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Whether you are competing in the games as an athlete or hosting the games, there are some common denominators for success:
Goal ~ you need to establish a goal. It must be firm in your mind, and you must be dedicated to succeed.
Plan ~ you must plan and set out a daily agenda of all the steps required to achieve your goal.
Action ~ you must take all the positive steps you have outlined in your plan in order to succeed.
Our Canadian Olympians who adopted an “own the podium” plan achieved 18 medals, 1 gold, 5 silver and 12 bronze.
The City of London had a similar plan and these games are viewed worldwide as a great success.
Toronto is looking forward to hosting the 2015 Pan American games. Goals, Plans, and Actions will be vital to its success.
This is not unlike purchasing real estate. First, you need to set your goal, whether it be a house, condo, cottage or investment property. Then, you need to set out a plan to achieve it. Finally, you must take all the actions necessary.
